Blogathon Prize Update

Opy and Charlie, the Dogs With Blogs lead dogs, won a gift certificate for Happy Hearts Dog Cookies during Blogathon.  This week, we got an email from them saying that since they live in Australia, they wouldn't be able to get the cookies through customs.  We are really disappointed, and I'm sure Opy and Charlie are as well.  So what we did is assign everyone who didn't win a prize in the big prize drawing during Blogathon a number.  Then we got a random number generator off the internet to pick a number.  The winner is the Waterdance Pack and they will now be receiving the gift certificate.

So now we'll be sending the gift certificate out to our new winners.  Congratulations!

Steve

PS. I've got some cute pictures of myself to post soon, so don't worry.  We've just been resting up this week.

The end has come

This is it! The last post of Blogathon. We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who pledged. We finished the night with $1305 in donations. That is awesome and better than we ever imagined. It's great to have such wonderful friends who steal their humans' plastic cards for a good cause. Thanks to the pups and kitties who stayed up with us!  Finally, thanks to Fur the Animals for donating great prizes, as well as Khyra, the Army of Four's mom, Sophie's mom, and Cheryl from SOS-SRF for their prize donations.

We want to leave you with an official Thank You from Save Our Siberians - Siberspace Rescue Fund.

On behalf of the SOS-SRF board, I would like to say how honored we are to be chosen as the recipient of this year`s Blogathon. Thank you to everyone who has made a donation to help the SOS-SRF provide funding to rescue organizations with extraordinary medical expenses. And a big thank you to Steve, Kat (and Wilbur, wherever he is) and their people for doing this. I have been following all your blogs since the start and it has been very entertaining. Siberian Huskies and the people who love them are the best!

Maureen Lamb (the SOS-SRF webmaster and person who looks after your PayPal donations)

Final Prize Drawing

The following three videos are of our final prize drawings. Congratulations to all the winners! (Ignore our mom. She's being retarded and she didn't fix her hair today.)

Here's the drawing for the remaining dog toys.

Next the drawing for some human stuff and cookies.

Finally, the drawing for our high value prizes!

Winners, we will be contacting you to get your mailing addresses so we can send you your winnings.

Game #8

Here's our final game. All of our other prizes will be awarded through a drawing before the end of Blogathon. So get ready because here we go!

The prize is this set of cat magnets. They are pretty cool, but this picture is terrible, so check the website to see what they really look like. (Our photographer is in need of some skills.)
The question...

What is the name of the 300th dog helped by SOS-SRF?

Once last reminder of the rules:

Here’s how the game works. We’ll ask a question and the first pup or kitty to leave the correct answer in our comments will win the prize. All answers are available online and most (but not all) are on the SOS-SRF website. One final note is that you must have pledged to win a prize. If you still want to pledge a donation, just send us an email at stevekatwilbur AT gmail DOT com. You can still play along even if you do not wish to make a donation.

Steve's - A - Nappin'

Now Steve's sleeping.  This is his new favorite spot to sleep, right in the middle of the hallway.  I guess it's a good spot considering it's halfway between the office where Mom is on the computer and the living room where Dad is watching TV.  Steve and I decided to sleep in shifts during Blogathon.

Mom's getting pretty tired and I have no conclusive evidence that Dad is actually awake in the living room.  Mom says she shouldn't have purchased caffeine free Diet Pepsi.  I think I need to go shop at MEESHco and get one of those human zappers!

Kat

Game #7

6 more hours of Blogathon!  Here's our latest game. The prize this time is a musical rose.  Steve posted some interesting ideas on what to do with the rose earlier this month.
To keep things interesting, we're going to post this like a statement in Jeopardy and then you answer in the form of a question, just like the TV show. Because it's late and probably unfair to throw a new spin on the game at this hour, this question has several right answers.

Woo, this university's mascot is a husky!

Remember the rules:

Here’s how the game works. We’ll ask a question and the first pup or kitty to leave the correct answer in our comments will win the prize. All answers are available online and most (but not all) are on the SOS-SRF website. One final note is that you must have pledged to win a prize. If you still want to pledge a donation, just send us an email at stevekatwilbur AT gmail DOT com. You can still play along even if you do not wish to make a donation.

Game #6 Results

The laser beam mouse now has a new owner, Holly! Great job!

If you were playing along, here's the answer.

Question:

In 2008, what did SOS-SRF help cure Faith of?

Answer:

Heartworm

Of course, SOS-SRF didn't actually cure Faith, but the organization gave money to Huskies 'R Us to pay for her treatment and now, thanks to our sponsors, SOS-SRF has even more money to pay for treatment for other dogs.

Game #6

Next trivia question.  The prize for this game is this laser beam mouse.  Back when Wilbur lived with us, he loved his laser.

In 2008, what did SOS-SRF help cure Faith of?

Rules refresher:

Here’s how the game works. We’ll ask a question and the first pup or kitty to leave the correct answer in our comments will win the prize. All answers are available online and most (but not all) are on the SOS-SRF website. One final note is that you must have pledged to win a prize. Game #5 Results

Congratulations to our winners, The Brat Pack - Sam, Dot, Tucker, Bear, and Milly!

Question:

How much does one pound of Husky Java cost?

Answer:

$14.60

Now, since the Brat Pack just won the giggly fire hydrant, Steve would like to share an instructional video on how to play with it.

Game #5

For this game, we're giving away a blue giggly fire hydrant

I have one of these that I like to play with. When you shake it, it makes a cute giggly noise. It took me a while to figure it out since I'm used to biting things to make them squeak, but I know our readers are smart and the winner will figure it out in no time!

So the question is:

How much does one pound of Husky Java cost?

When we announce the winner, Steve will also share a video we just filmed where he demonstrates ways you can play with your fire hydrant.

Rules reminder:

Here’s how the game works. We’ll ask a question and the first pup or kitty to leave the correct answer in our comments will win the prize. All answers are available online and most (but not all) are on the SOS-SRF website. One final note is that you must have pledged to win a prize. If you still want to pledge a donation, just send us an email at stevekatwilbur AT gmail DOT com. You can still play along even if you do not wish to make a donation.

Game #4 Results

Congratulations to our next winner, Holly! Way to go and quick paws at answering the trivia question.

Here's the answer.

Question:

Name a lead dog in the first Iditarod.

Answer:

Togo, Balto, and others. Togo and Balto were the most famous lead dogs in the Serum Run.

Here's the thing.  We meant the Serum Run, not the first Iditarod.  The Sibes at D'Azul answered the question for the first Iditarod, so we will award them a prize too!

Game #4

It’s time for another game. This time the prize is a bag of Wholesome Hides.

They look really tasty, but we haven’t gotten to try this bag out since Mom says it would be rude to give out a partially eaten bag of chewies. We disagree, but we obeyed her anyway.

Here’s the question:

Name a lead dog in the first Iditarod.

Game #3 Results

We have a winner! Peanut has won the silver tray. Congrats! Peanut is very quick at these games, so everypup else is going to have to hope he goes and takes a nap or you'll have to get faster!  Now for all of you who were playing along, here’s the answer.

Question:

How many dogs has SOS-SRF helped to date?

Answer:

318

Now we have to go finish making our Wooscotti!

How to make Wooscotti

We’ve told you about Wooscotti before. It’s a great treat that our mom makes for us sometimes. I had a talk with Mom about making some Wooscotti today and then I could share the instructions with you so your mom can make it. Luckily Mom said that we had earned some Wooscotti since we are working so hard on Blogathon.

So here’s what you have to do. I feel like Zim! He’s so good at giving cooking instructions.

First get your mixer out. Mom likes her KitchenAid mixer a lot, but if you don’t have one, you’ll just have to stir it by paw.

Once you have your mixer out, dump all of the following ingredients into the bowl.

2 cups whole-wheat flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

2 pinches ground cinnamon

1 cup peanut butter (we use creamy, but you can use your favorite)

1 cup milk

Next, turn on your mixer (or if you don’t have a mixer, get ready to get your paws dirty). Just mix until the dough is all mixed up.

At this point, you should turn on your oven and set it to 400 degrees. While your oven is heating up, get a cookie sheet out and grease it. After it’s all ready to go, dump your dough out and shape it into a long, flat log (about 1-inch thick).

Put it into the over and bake it for 20 minutes. While your Wooscotti is baking, go outside and run around. You’ll want to work up an appetite so you can eat lots of Wooscotti.

We’ll finish up this recipe after the baking is done.

Kat

Game #3

Can you believe it’s already time for another game? We’ve got so many fantastic prizes that we can have lots of games.  Once again, thanks to Fur the Animals for donating so many great prizes.

For this game, the prize is this really nice silver bone shaped tray. This is a horrible picture of it. The flash on the camera did not do a good job on the picture, but if you really want to see what it looks like, click on the link.

It would be a great tray for your parents to feed you food on a silver platter! I know all of our readers are royalty in their families, so it's about time you were treated like it!

So here’s the trivia question:

How many dogs has SOS-SRF helped to date?

Game #2 Results

Game #2 has now ended. Thanks to everyone who entered.

Question:

How many years has SOS-SRF been helping huskies?

Answer:

10 years. Happy Anniversary SOS-SRF!

The winner of the Stinky Human/Feline Spray (we renamed it) is Frankie, Maddie and Domino. Congratulations!

Stay tuned for our next game.

Working on Blog changes

We’ve been blogging for almost two years now and our blog looks exactly the same as when we started for the most part. So during Blogathon, while we’re at the computer for 24 hours, we’re going to work on some blog changes. We will also be unveiling a new name for the blog since we’ve had some changes in our lives since we started the blog. After all, Wilbur just moved out!

So if you have any suggestions for the blog, let us know. Hopefully we won’t crash it while also trying to post every 30 minutes!  We may visit some of your blogs for suggestions!

Game #2

It’s time for our second game. This time the prize will be some stinky pet spray.

We’re sure none of you pups need it, but I think it’s actually for you to spray on your humans. Those of you who live with cats might like it too because Wilbur has become atomic with his gas. (He’s not here to get mad at us for writing that.)

So here’s the next question:

How many years has SOS-SRF been helping huskies?

Good luck and in case you forgot how this works, here’s the rules again:

Here’s how the game works. We’ll ask a question and the first pup or kitty to leave the correct answer in our comments will win the prize. All answers are available online and most (but not all) are on the SOS-SRF website. One final note is that you must have pledged to win a prize. Game #1 Results

Well, the results are in. Game #1 has a winner (or two winners to be exact!)

Question:

When was the Siberian Husky first registered by the AKC?

Answer:

1930 (according to the AKC)

Congratulations to Peanut and Tia! You’re both now the proud owners of a crinkly butterfly toy!  Tia, you are such an overachiever.  Tia found the name of the first registered Siberian Husky, Fairbanks Princess Chena.

Thank for playing everypup and kitty.  If you didn't win this time, keep trying because we will continue to give out prizes.  Remember our posts are released on the hour and half hour.

PS. Huffle, we're going to save some of the kitty prizes for tonight so you can still play.  We only have a few cats reading, so we want to make sure you'll be awake for those prizes.
