Caught!

Filed by Katherine Olivia, reporter

Huge developments are underway on the case of the missing cookies. Once Sitka and Cornelia Marie heard about the way the media was smearing their good name, the Georgia duo set out to clear themselves of all allegations. After some detective work that would put any TV crime drama to shame, Sitka and Cornelia Marie have nabbed two Georgia squirrels, armed with costumes.
The squirrels were dressing up as Sitka and Cornelia Marie and posing to steal Happy Hearts cookies. Also found in the squirrels' possession were costumes the squirrels used to dress as FedEx workers, allowing them access into the FedEx facilities and giving the squirrels free reign to reroute packages.

Sitka and Cornelia Marie have received the assurances of the squirrels that Steve's cookies will be delivered tomorrow. What is unknown at this time is whether there are more squirrels involved in this scheme or if the two lassoed by Sitka and Cornelia Marie are working alone. All Siberians and other canines are to be on high alert for increased squirrel activity in their area.

Breaking News: Squirrels and Sibes Band Together

Filed by Katherine Olivia, reporter

Recent developments in the case of Steve's missing cookies have been shocking. News was revealed that two Siberians, Sitka and Cornelia Marie, have an established method of tracking all Happy Hearts Cookie shipments and rerouting them to Georgia. This news was met with bewilderment. How can two Siberians hack into the huge shipping system that is FedEx?

The answer came when another Siberian Husky, Echo, came forward with an accusation. Echo stated, "I can't believe [Steve and Happy Hearts Inc have] been duped by the squirrels' evil plot." Echo's accusation seemed impossible. Sitka and Cornelia Marie seem like unlikely partners in a squirrels' plot. An anonymous tip arrived with this picture. Now photographic evidence links squirrels to FedEx trucks. Will evidence surface linking Sitka and Cornelia Marie to the squirrels? Stay tuned to this news channel for up to the minute reporting on this case.

Cookie Update

Filed by Katherine Olivia, reporter

After my last reporting of the events on March 26, new developments have been brought to the fore-front on the case of the stolen Happy Hearts Cookies. An eye-witness, Miss Tia, has come forward with an account of the events occurring in Georgia on March 26.

Miss Tia was spending her afternoon lounging in the upstairs window of her bedroom. (Occasionally she takes a break from her new bed.) Miss Tia describes a scene where Sitka and Cornelia Marie pranced to the FedEx box, tore it open, ate half of the cookies, and then wooed to the FedEx guy to tape the box back up. At this point, the FedEx truck departed.
(Artist's Interpretation of Miss Tia's account)

Obviously Sitka and Cornelia Marie have no remorse for their crimes, as demonstrated by their "prancing" and "wooing". Even more disturbing is the rest of Miss Tia's testimony. "I think they put some sort of trace on ALL mail MayaMarie and her mom send out. I have seen this happen on several occasions where they go out, play in the truck, and come back in smelling of cookies."

These matters are under further investigation. Stay tuned to this news station for further details as the story develops.

News Flash!

Filed by Katherine Olivia, reporter.

Will Steve, the handsome Siberian Husky, go hungry? That is the question that dogs everywhere are asking after the news was released just minutes ago that a FedEx truck, loaded with a box of Happy Hearts cookies, was hijacked and sent to Georgia instead of Washington. A spokesdog for Happy Hearts Inc, Maya-Marie, had this to say, "We loaded a huge box of cookies on the FedEx truck and they were to be delivered to Steve today, but the FedEx tracking system has the box in Georgia at this time." When asked for a response, Steve hung his head in sadness and could only say, "I will have to ration my remaining Happy Hearts cookies very carefully. No dog can be without Happy Hearts."Rumors are circulating that two other masked Siberians, Sitka and Cornelia Marie, might have something to do with these developments. Their last sightings place them in Georgia and it is a well-known fact that they are quite fond of Happy Hearts cookies. While Sitka and Cornelia Marie have no prior criminal records, the allure of Happy Hearts cookies cannot be underestimated.

Another Happy Hearts Inc. spokesdog, Bella, had this final comment. "We demand that this travesty is made right! Steve should not have to suffer." Stay tuned to this news channel for further developments in this breaking story.

Walking for the Iditawalk

We just finished our 1049 minutes of walking for the Iditawalk last night! We really enjoyed the walking and running and I think we've got a new routine. Every day when Mom and Dad get home from work, Kat and I get our of our crate and run outside to potty, then we come inside and I bounce around while Mom and Dad change their clothes and put their shoes on. Sometimes I can't even calm down to put my leash on. Mom says I'm like Tigger and just bounce around all over the place. I have some videos to show you soon.

Then we get outside and Dad makes us stand in the street while he waits for a GPS signal on his iPhone.

I like to laugh at Kat while she stands around.
100_3108
Then we are ready to go. You can see in this picture that Dad and Mom have walking belts and we just pull them down the street!
100_3111
It's a lot of fun and I'm so glad we go into the Iditawalk!

Sleeping positions

I received some positive feedback on my post about my vacation from the furry beasts. Many of you thought I had a good sleeping position. That is one of my favorite ones, but I do have many more, which I am going to share with you in this post.

Here's a pretty basic pose. I think many of you furry beasts will be familiar with it.I like this one too. I use this pose when I need to be a little warmer. You might have noticed how I'm always laying next to the bricks. I think this next picture will explain why I like that spot. It's good for warming your tummy.Even the boy furry beast likes the fire, but he doesn't dare get in my spot.Even though the fire is my favorite, sometimes I sleep on the dog bed, just to show the furry beasts who's boss. Look how sad the boy furry beast looks here because he can't get on his bed.Meow,

Mom and Dad's trip

We mentioned that Mom and Dad went to Oregon a couple weekends ago. We thought they just went to go shopping, but then we found these pictures on the camera.
100_3115
Does that look like a skijoring race to you? It sure does to me!
100_3116
If you look closely at this picture, you'll see sleds and dogs in harnesses, but you won't see Steve or me anywhere! That is an outrage!
100_3118
Then we saw this and realized that Mom and Dad were also out snowshoeing with other dogs. It doesn't get any worse than that!

After I saw this, I had to sit Mom down and interrogate her. I found out that she and Dad went to watch the start of a skijor race and then they went snowshoeing with one of her friends and his dogs, Crockett and Tubbs. I was very upset, but then Mom promised that she just wanted to check out the skijoring to see it in person so we can do it sometime AND that she wants to take us to the place where they snowshoed and that someday we can hang out with Crockett and Tubbs because their dad invited us all to come visit.

So I decided that I'll let her off the hook just this once. After all, we did have run at the ranch.

Award!`

We received this super cool award from the OP Pack.  As you know, Kat is very fond of Thunder from the OP Pack.  They are quite the adorable couple.

Anyway, this is the Golden Award.  Rules for the award say we have to post the award on our blog, add the link to the Award, then:

1. Pass it on to furries that do the hidey.

2. Share it with woofies that are good friends & protect us all.

To be honest, we aren't sure completely what furries that do the hidey are, but we think it might be cats.  They often like to hide from strangers.  We'd give it to a squirrel, but we don't know any squirrel bloggers.  So we'd like to give it to the Bumpass Cats.  As for #2, we'll give it to the Bumpass Hounds, because they are good friends.  They always leave very clever comments on our blog!

Banana Bones

I am way overdue for another edition of Kat's Crazy Kitchen. Back when I announced the Kat's Crazy Kitchen feature, Mya of The Painter Pack asked me if I could feature a recipe with three ingredients or less because as Mya put it, "so my cooking challenged mommy can do it". Well, Mya, I've got a super simple recipe for you today. My mom first got the idea from Khyra, just to give credit where credit is due.

Here's what you do. First get some bananas that are past the point where your human wants to eat them. That means that they are at the perfect point of mushiness.
DSC_0021
Then get your masher and mash up the mushy bananas.
DSC_0022
Next get some plain non-fat yogurt and put a couple spoonfuls into the bowl.
DSC_0023
Stir the banana and the yogurt up. Now get your bones ready. Mom lines them up in a bowl like this.
DSC_0025
Scoop out the banana mixture and fill up your bones.
DSC_0026
Next have your humans put the bones in the freezer and let them get completely frozen, then it's time for you to enjoy them!

You can even do variations of this recipe. Sometimes my mom puts the mixture in our kongs instead of bones. Or sometimes she uses pumpkin instead of yogurt. So you can do whatever you think sounds tasty.

Just don't forget the best part, cleaning out the containers so they can go into the recycling bin.

Enjoy!

Steve's Photo Shoot

Here are some pictures from my photo shoot that I mentioned on Monday.

Can you see my snow nose in this picture? I get a hint of one in the winter.

Finally, Mom said "treat?"

I'm not depressed!

I'm interrupting Steve's scheduled blog post about his photo shoot to talk about my snow. That's right, I said SNOW! Last week, I posted that I was very sad that it seemed like all the other bloggers had snow and I didn't. Well, guess what? Saturday I got some snow! Mom said it was more like ice pellets, but whatever. My yard was white and I was happy. I was running around like a crazy dog and Mom came outside to video, so I stopped.

We have to make sure the parents have to work hard for their videos. (You can see in the background where we have lots of stumps from Dad's lumberjacking in the back yard.)

The snow is gone now, but at least I feel better that I got to have at least one more run in the snow this year.

My new furniture

Back when we lived in Texas, we had a patio set and I really enjoyed laying on it and watching over my backyard kingdom. Here's a picture of me on that table.
100_1330
I also liked standing on the grill, as evident in this picture of Kat, Ulee, and me.
100_1678
When we left Texas, we had to live in an apartment up here, so Mom gave away the patio set to one of her friends in Texas and Dad sold the grill. After six months of apartment living, we moved into our house and I was really disappointed to see that a patio set and grill did not magically appear. I have a much bigger yard now, but no good vantage point for surveying, especially since Dad blocked off the stairs to get on top of the clubhouse after Kat jumped off the roof.

Luckily, a couple weekends ago, Mom went to Lowes and found a table and chairs that she liked and they weren't very expensive. So that night, she and Dad went back to Lowe's and purchased the stuff.

Now this is more like it.
DSC_0036
Dad got a new grill too, but he put it up against the house and not where I can stand on it. I'll have to fix that soon.

While I was up on the table, Mom took a bunch of pictures of me, so I'll share my photo shoot with you all in my next post.

March Madness!

Some of our long-time readers know this, but back when we lived in Texas, we helped out with Adopt a Husky of Dallas.  We even had a foster sister for a while, Ulee.  I really liked Ulee.  She was fun to play with, but I won't tell you what Kat thought.  (It wasn't good.)  Ulee was adopted and became a California girl and gets to go to day camp every day and go to the beach a lot.  She's really living it up.

Anyway, even though we moved away, we still stay in contact with our pals at the rescue.  Mom does their newsletter each month and sometimes Kat and I pose for pictures for the newsletter if Mom doesn't have anything from the rescue volunteers.

For March, AHDI is doing a March Madness fundraiser.  Anyone can play, so we thought we'd let our blog pals know, in case any of you are big basketball followers.  The details are below.

Woo,
Steve

March Madness is No Match for our Huskies, but we’re gonna try!

Please join us for the first annual Adopt a Husky March Madness Tournament.

You don’t need to know a thing about college basketball. You just fill out your bracket by mascot, school colors or flipping a coin. Or maybe your dog picks the winner! The cause is great, and we need a big jumpstart (pun intended) for our first year.

Kelli Knight, is our first commissioner. A basketball coach, and former player, Kelli is ready to lead our husky pack through the dance.

Kelli’s email address is: commish2k9@gmail.com

Please contact anyone you know who would spend $20 to help rescue dogs. We can’t tell you how full the shelters are. It’s too sad.

For our entries, half the money will go to the winner and half to Adopt a Husky. So play, donate and talk smack. And, since we’ll have a lot of people who are more familiar with huskies and dogs than basketball, you hardcore players may have a pretty good shot.

Please start spreading the word to anyone who loves rescue, dogs, huskies, basketball, or may just be a soft touch. And for all of you who can’t foster, but are always willing to help, here’s a great opportunity.

Send us your email info if you’re interested in joining us! Let us know how you found out about the tournament. When it's time to fill out the brackets, the Commish will howl.

Tail Wags and Wooo Wooo Wooo!

I'm depressed

I'm really depressed.  I have been working really hard this evening to catch up on blogs.  I have read so many blogs with pictures and movies of pups playing in their new snow.  Then I went back to Google reader and I see that I still have tons of blogs about snow!  (I'm not sure if you can read it in this picture.)How much can a girl take?  It's been sunny and in the mid-50s here.  That's not snow weather.  We're even getting flowers popping out of the ground.  Where's my snow?

Me

The Bumpass Kitties (because I'm sure the hounds had nothing to do with it) asked about my welfare while the furry beasts were at the dog ranch and Mom and Dad were in Oregon. Thank you so much for asking! Actually, I got to have the house to myself. I have my own electronic feeder, so it spits out food for me twice per day and I also have a big water fountain so I always have freshly filtered water to drink. Before they left, Mom also gave me a big can of Friskies.

It was a wonderful weekend. First I pulled down the curtains in the office. The curtains are just the scarf kind and I get in trouble frequently for scratching at them, but since I was home alone, I just scratched at them until they were completely messed up.

Then I got all my toys out of my room. Normally most of my toys have to stay in my room so the furry beasts don't get them, but there weren't any furry beasts!

I also got to enjoy all of my favorite sleeping positions. I've included a sample below. (Just one though because I'm working on a post about sleeping.)
It's so nice to sleep without a furry beast nose in your butt.

So Bumpass Kitties, I was just fine. But it's nice to have friends looking out for you.

Meow,
Wilbur

On Vacation

Mom and Dad went to Oregon this weekend, without Kat or me.  (More on that in another post.)  Kat and I went on vacation at our new cool boarding place.  It's a really fun place.  We have an indoor/outdoor run and we got to bring our own toys, which we never got to do at the place in Texas.  Mom even made us Kongs to get each day.  We also get off-leash playtime three times per day, just Kat and me.  The humans at the ranch took pictures of us and sent them to Mom via email.  She likes that because she can check on us via the iPhone.

Here are some really cool action shots of us.  Doesn't it look like I am winning?
Finally, here's a picture of us just hanging out.  We're a bit tired after that wrestling.  I also have a dirty face.  I'm going for the tough guy look.
