Reader Requests

Back when we posted about our Christmas presents, a few pups asked to see pictures of us in our harnesses. We never want to deny our fans, so here you go!

Handsome me:Cute Kat:Here we are with Dad getting ready to go biking. We have Walky Dogs and they work great for us. We are always VERY excited to go for a bike ride, if you can't tell from this picture. We also got requests for our Wooscotti recipe from our new readers. Well pups, you're in luck! Kat provided excellent illustrated directions for Wooscotti back in the summer. Check out Part 1 and Part 2. Trust me, Wooscotti is easy to make and delicious!

That's it pups! We love your requests, so keep 'em coming!

That's right!  We got our wooscotti recipe published!  We are feeling pretty awesome.  (We also thought we were going to win a prize, but that hasn't arrived yet so maybe Mom is hiding it.)

Wooscotti continued

So, by this point, your Wooscotti should be done baking.  (Hey, Peanut, it's really easy, so hopefully your mom will make you some!)

Sort of. It’s not really done, but you’re waiting for me to tell you what to do next. First you need to slice the Wooscotti into 1-inch thick slices.

Lay it flat on the cookie sheet like I did.  (We always have some crumbles, but we bake those anyway because they still taste good.

Now that it’s sliced, the Wooscotti goes back into the oven for another 10-12 minutes until the Wooscotti is crisp.

Take it out of the oven and put it on a wire rack to cool off.

While the Wooscotti is cooling, take some carob chips, we use about ½ cup, and melt them in the microwave. If you need to thin the melted carob, just add a bit of water. (NOTE: Mom had a hard time finding carob chips, but finally found them at a specialty grocery store in the bulk food section.)  Carob looks like chocolate but is safe for canines.

Once your carob is melted, drizzle it all over your sliced Wooscotti. It should look like mine.  (I put the cookie sheet under the wire rack so that any carob can just drizzle down on the cookie sheet and the dishwasher can take care of it.)

Make sure you let the Wooscotti cool completely so you don’t burn your tongue.  Steve and I really want to eat some, but we can't yet.

After it’s cooled, store it in an airtight container. We keep ours in the refrigerator. Steve and I love Wooscotti and I have a hunch you will too!

How to make Wooscotti

We’ve told you about Wooscotti before. It’s a great treat that our mom makes for us sometimes. I had a talk with Mom about making some Wooscotti today and then I could share the instructions with you so your mom can make it. Luckily Mom said that we had earned some Wooscotti since we are working so hard on Blogathon.

So here’s what you have to do. I feel like Zim! He’s so good at giving cooking instructions.

First get your mixer out. Mom likes her KitchenAid mixer a lot, but if you don’t have one, you’ll just have to stir it by paw.

Once you have your mixer out, dump all of the following ingredients into the bowl.

2 cups whole-wheat flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

2 pinches ground cinnamon

1 cup peanut butter (we use creamy, but you can use your favorite)

1 cup milk

Next, turn on your mixer (or if you don’t have a mixer, get ready to get your paws dirty). Just mix until the dough is all mixed up.

At this point, you should turn on your oven and set it to 400 degrees. While your oven is heating up, get a cookie sheet out and grease it. After it’s all ready to go, dump your dough out and shape it into a long, flat log (about 1-inch thick).

Put it into the over and bake it for 20 minutes. While your Wooscotti is baking, go outside and run around. You’ll want to work up an appetite so you can eat lots of Wooscotti.

We’ll finish up this recipe after the baking is done.
