Dirty Face

Over the weekend before the grass went in, Dad found me outside looking like this.

At first, he started to get mad because he thought I had been digging. Then he noticed my paws were all clean.

I had just been pushing my nose throught the dirt. The landscapers brought in some new dirt for Mom to plant flowers in and it wasn't packed down, so I thought maybe I could do some work of my own! I gave Dad an annoyed look to show that I wasn't happy about being wrongly accused.

Something is under the clubhouse

There is something under the clubhouse. Kat and I have been working hard to figure it out.

I just had to pull up the landscaping fabric.

Then I dug a little bit around the clubhouse porch.

Since Kat is the smallest, I sent her in first.

Kat, do you see anything?

Mom never did find exactly what we were after, however, she did have to clean up a dead mouse in the yard that she saw us "playing" with. Dad is in the process of tearing down the clubhouse because Mom doesn't want it to be a place for mouse nests. Kat and I decided that was okay because we're going to have more room for zoomies.

Don't forget to vote for us in the photo contest!

Backyard Helping

Mom and Dad has been working hard in our backyard, but not as hard as we have been working. Mom and Dad hope to have grass planted in the entire yard within the next couple weeks, so Kat and I have doubled our efforts to help.

Our yard used to have some bamboo bushes and Dad has been digging them up. You can see him in the background of this picture. Notice what a great job I'm doing at keeping dirt out of the hole where he had just removed some bamboo roots.

Here's a closer look.

Yard work is hard but I just know it will be worth it when Kat and I have nice, soft grass to run on while we play chase!

My yard remodeling

Huffle has been complaining about how ugly her yard is lately. Ozzie has been remodeling his yard. Since my yard is uglier than Huffle's, I decided to take a page from Ozzie's book and do some remodeling.

Here's how ugly my yard is. (Mom did a panorama for this, her first one, and it's not perfect, so don't look to closely. Click on the picture if you want a better look.)So to make my yard prettier, I have made the following alterations:

Don't you think it looks good? I heard Mom muttering something about how is she ever going to get grass to grow with my digging, but I think she must be confused or something.

I'm pretty happy about it.

How did you get that idea?

Mom says she's sick and tired of me digging holes all over the yard and she doesn't know how many times she will have to put poop in my holes for me to stop.  I don't know what she's talking about.  Where does she get the idea that it's ME digging the holes?  What about those pesky squirrels?  What about Wilbur?  I don't know why I get blamed for everything.

Woo is me,

Digging for Poop

For Mom's birthday, she bought herself a Doggie Dooley.  It's really amusing the lengths humans will go just for some poop disposal.  Apparently Costco had a good deal on these Dooley gadgets, so Mom ordered one.

Of course, Mom's online shopping means work for Dad, Kat and me.  First, Dad had to read the instructions on what to do.
Kat helped Dad with the digging.  She stopped helping to pose for this picture, but I promise, she got her paws dirty!
I was really worried the dirt from the hole Dad dug would blow away, so I decided my job would be to anchor the dirt.  You can see me working hard to keep the dirt in one place.
Once the hole was a couple feet deep, Kat didn't want to help with the digging anymore, but she often came to supervise.
The Dooley is in the ground now and Mom's been faithfully depositing more of our poop in it everyday.  It's like she thinks it will turn to gold or something.  You know, that would be a super great invention.  A poop-to-gold converter.  I'm going to have to figure out how to make that happen so I can buy more treats.  What a perfect cycle.  Buy treats.  Make poop.  Turn poop into gold.  Buy more treats.  Make more poop.  More poop turned into gold.  Pups, this is genius.  I'll let you know when my prototype is finished.

Kat the Gardener

Steve told you what he did last weekend, so now it's my turn. While Dad and Steve were building stuff, Mom and I planted some new bushes.

First we had to dig up all the soil. I was happy to help with that. Then we had to dig a deep hole. I was happy to help with that too. Mom dug on one side with her shovel, I dug on the other side with my paws.Next we put some compost in the hold and stuck the plant in too. Next Mom put a bunch of rocks around the plant because she doesn't want me to try to dig holes for any new plants in this spot.

And here's our finished work! Mom said she thought the hole was more in the middle of the semi-circle, but once the plant was in, it didn't look like it. By that point, the dirt was falling apart around the roots of the plant, so she was afraid to move it.We've got some more plants to install this weekend, so I'll show you that next week!

It wasn't me!

Hi pups.  Steve here. Last weekend, Mom looked out the window and saw Kat and me standing by a giant hole.

There was dirt everywhere!
Mom came running outside yelling "No!"  Then she had to go into digging CSI to figure out who was in trouble.  Since Kat and I were both seen at the scene of the crime, we were both suspects.  I present my evidence.

Me: Clean.  No dirty paws.  Cute face.  Brown eyes saying, "I'm innocent."
Kat: Dirty head.  Not looking at the camera to hide her shame.  Dirty paws.  Guilty.
She didn't even feel any remorse.  You can see that she's just laughing at Mom as Mom tries to take a picture of her dirty paws for evidence.
I wasn't helping.  Not at all.  I was just at the hole telling Kat to stop.  That's right.

Tagged and Gardening

We got tagged by Amber to play Japanese name tag.  Our copy and paste is acting up, so see the rules on the A04's blog, please.

Steve = Arichikuruku
Kat = Mekachi
Wilbur = Meikitatudoshi

I think Kat's is the best since we could actually figure out how to say it!

Second, Mom finished a lot of her gardening this weekend.  She had Dad hang up this window box on the front of the clubhouse and then she planted some pretty stuff in it.  We are supposed to be good and leave it alone.  So far, so good.
She also finished the two beds that she was working on during her digging contest with Kat.  So far, we haven't dug up these plants, but I have decided to start peeing on them.

Hope all you pups had a good weekend too!

Digging Contest

Mom decided to plant some stuff in the empty flower beds in the back yard.  So we had a digging contest - Mom versus me.  The winner gets the title of digger extraordinaire!

Here's my digging.
And a close up.
Here's Mom's.
Her close up.  It's a pathetic excuse for a hole in my opinion.
So who do you think won the contest?

I will post pictures soon of the finished product.  Mom is also going to put a window box with some flowers on the front of the Siberian Clubhouse, so I will post those pictures too.  I don't think she's going to get it done until next weekend though.

Luckily, Mom and Dad have pretty much finished everything in the guest house where they live.  So that means more time to hang out in the backyard with us and work on the clubhouse!  Dad is going to build a new ladder so Steve and I can get on top of the clubhouse easier.  Also, the current ladder is next to the fence, so they have some crazy idea that we would try to climb the ladder to jump over the fence.  Where do they get these ideas?  So Dad is also going to try to move the ladder away from the fence.
