Shopping

Today was a fun day. First off, there was a break in the rain, so Dad took us on a bike ride. Then, after our bike ride, we got to go shopping! Now, since I am a girl, you know I love shopping. And we even went to my favorite store - PetsMart! We had two things on our shopping list: new Kongs and new Cuzes. We just had Puppy Kongs, and Mom decided that we had outgrown them and needed grown up Kongs. Also last night, Steve broke the squeaker on one of the Cuzes, so we got new ones of those and in a bigger size since our mouths have gotten bigger since we got our first ones.

Here's a picture of us shopping.
Then, Mom let us have our Kongs in the car. We were very excited to get them.
We chewed on the Kongs at home too just to make sure they tasted good at home as well as in the car.
Also, once we got home, we got to break out the Cuzes. Here is a picture of them. Our PetsMart was all out of Good Cuzes, so we had to get Bad ones.

I decided to hog them since Steve was busy with his Kong.

Here we are playing with the Cuzes.

In case you're wondering, Steve is not nearly as crabby today as he has been the rest of the week. I think he's happy that he got new toys.

Still raining

It's still raining. Mom and Dad came home from work and it was pouring down rain. And what do they expect us to do? Go outside and go potty. Sometimes I wish I could speak human because I would have said, "Are you insane? I don't want to go outside in this! It's raining cats and bunnies!" So, brilliant parents that they are, Dad decides that he'll go outside with us. So he takes his socks and shoes off and outside we go. Mom, of course, afraid of melting, stood at the door and laughed at us. Here is a video of our misery which displays Mom laughing uncontrollably at us.

Can you believe her? And then she had the nerve to keep us at the door to dry us off with a towel. I prefer to shake, thank you very much. Apparently she doesn't like me to shake all over the furniture and floor. Well, if you don't want me to shake, then don't make me go outside when it's raining! As further evidence of my abuse, Dad threw a towel on my head and instead of rescuing me, Mom stood there taking pictures.
I am sorry for being so cranky. All this rain has me in a bad mood. I hope it stops soon. I don't know how much more I can take.

Rain, rain, go away

It's raining here. Stupid rain. Kat and I were locked in our kennel all day and then when Mom and Dad got home, we were 8 minutes (0.63 miles) into our walk with Mom when it started raining on us. And not just rain, but loud thunder too. Since Dad was out running an errand, Mom told him to come pick us up, so we didn't get to walk anymore. Now we are bored. It's still raining, so Mom doesn't want to let us go outside and get all wet. (Plus I don't really like to get my furriness wet unless it's for swimming.) There is nothing to do. Boring, boring.

What do you pups do when it's raining and you can't talk walks? Maybe you have parents who don't melt in the rain like my mom. Maybe your parents put your needs ahead of their own. (ARE YOU READING THIS, MOM?)

My treats... gone!

See this bag? To you it probably looks like a bag full of yummy Friskies treats. These are some of my favorite treats.Mom usually keeps my treats in the basket with my toys. That's pretty much a safe thing because I don't ever get any toys out of the basket. I don't really need toys when I can sleep or torment the furry beasts.

So Mom and Dad came home from work to discover this in the middle of the living room floor.A hole chewed through my bag of Friskies treats! And guess what was in the bag? NOTHING! Mom was like, "How did this bag get out here?" The furry beasts were locked up in their kennel. They couldn't have possibly chewed a hole in the Friskies bag and left it in the middle of the living room floor. Mom totally underestimated my abilities to get what I want. She forgets to give me canned food in the morning, I chew a hole through the treat bag and eat all of the treats. Seems fair to me.I don't think she will forget to give me canned food again. She can't expect me to eat dry food all day!

Reading is NOT fun... for me

Mom has been re-reading all of the Harry Potter books in preparation for the Book 7 release in July. She's obsessed and loves them so much. I started thinking, "Does Mom love books more than me?" It really got me worrying. I decided that the only solution was to put a stop to her reading. So I jumped on the couch and sat on the book.
Then I gave her a long talking to about how reading is bad and playing with huskies is good. I told her that it's only okay to read if you are (1) reading doggie blogs or (2) reading while I am sleeping.
I hope I got the message across. I was very stern.

Steve

PS. I went to the vet today and while this is very embarrassing, I will admit that I have localized demodectic mange. Mom told me that I would have to take a bath every day, but she was just trying to play a joke on me. Really I just have to take some medicine. Since it's on my eyelid, the vet said taking baths with medicated shampoo wouldn't really help me.

Update on us

Hi, we just wanted to post a quick update. Holly asked us if we were okay since she saw on the news that there had been flooding in our area. (She's such a smart one!)

There has been flooding around here, but not in our neighborhood. We live on a hill and there was like a river of water flowing down the street, so that was pretty cool. In the middle of the night Sunday night/Monday morning, it started lightning and thundering VERY loudly. I got on the bed with Mom and Dad, but I don't think Steve even woke up! I felt better in bed with Mom and Dad, so I went to sleep at their feet, even during the storm. (Dad complained that morning that he didn't have any blankets because I was laying on all of them. Boo hoo for Dad!) Here's a silly picture of us wrestling in the rain. It's kind of blurry because Dad took it out the window and the screen was in the way.
Anyway, we are doing fine. Steve is going to the vet tomorrow, so he will write about what she says about his eye. Mom doesn't think it looks any worse than it did last weekend. She is going to print out the article from the Siberian Husky Health Foundation about zinc deficiencies in case our vet isn't familiar with it. There aren't many Huskies in Texas, so we don't know if she has any other Husky patients.

I'm going bald!

Hey doggies! I have a really embarrassing problem. I guess it is something all men have to deal with when they get to be a certain age, but I just thought I would be older than 8 months when I had to start dealing with it!

I am going bald. Around my right eye, my fur has starting falling out. Even some of my eyelashes. Here, let me show you.

Here's my left eye, still with all it's normal fur.
Now here's my right eye. See how it is missing fur? So weird!!
So if any doggies out there in blog land have some ideas for how to get my fur to grow back so I won't have premature balding, let me know!!

We can swim!

Sorry we haven't written much this week. Mom was busy and we couldn't get on the computer. Since we haven't written, we haven't told you about going swimming last weekend in a lake. It was so fun. We went to a dog park that has a lake section.

When we first got there, Mom and Dad took us to go swimming. Here's our first swimming experience.

After getting used to the water and getting really wet, we went over into the large dog section of the dog park. There was another husky there. He was shaved though, so he wasn't fluffy like Steve or me.See all of that dirt? Steve and I used it to our advantage. Since we were wet from swimming, we wrestled and rolled around in the dirt and managed to get really dirty. Here's a video of us running around. You might not even be able to recognize us because our white fur is all brown.

Once it was about time to go home, Mom and Dad decided that wet puppies in the car would be better than muddy puppies in the car. So we went to the swimming area again to clean off. This time we were much braver and started swimming in the deep end. Then I heard Dad say, "After this, we are going home." So when he started calling my name, I just ignored him. I was just trying to be a good husky!

After we finally got out and walked to the car, Mom and Dad dried us off as much as they could with towels. Once we got home, we had to take a bath because we were still kind of gross. I don't like taking a bath, but it might have been worth it for all of the fun we had at the park!

Cookies not for me

My mom made cookies this weekend. No, not the good kind, but white chocolate and peanut butter chip cookies. Here's a picture.

Now, when I say, "Not the good kind", I mean that they aren't doggie cookies that are only for me. (and Kat, I guess) No, these cookies were for Mom and Dad. They were very good though. I managed to sneak one off the counter and Dad caught me. I wanted more, but every time I peeked over the counter to see which one I wanted, Mom would say, "No! Off!" So I had to get down. It was really disappointing. I mean, don't you think that if she is going to bake that she should be baking for me? Here's a picture of me lying at the base of the cabinet, pouting because I didn't get any more cookies.

What's a pup to do when he wants cookies really badly, but his mom doesn't give him any? Maybe I should ask the Army of Four. They seem to have all of the answers.

Sick-o Steve-o

On Thursday, Steve got sick at day camp and had to be taken out of the play room and put in a kennel for the rest of the day. His poops were really yucky. When we got home, Steve didn't get supper, but he still had two more yucky poops. So Mom got out her vet book and decided that Steve needed some Pepto. It was so smelly, but pink, so I wanted some, but Mom said no. Dad took me outside while Mom gave it to Steve. Now, whenever Steve and I get separated, we have to wrestle each other the next time we see each other. So after Steve took his medicine and Dad let me in, of course we wrestled. During the wrestling, Steve got Pepto on my ear!!! Ewww, gross! He must have still had some in his mouth. So now my pretty white ear fur is pink! Mom can't get it off either, of course, I won't sit still for her to scrub my ear.

I'm rolling my eyes at Steve in that picture because I can't believe he put his medicine on my ear. In case you can't see the pepto, here's a close up. You can't see it very well in this picture either, but I tried.Oh, and if you care about Steve, in my time of ear-pinkness, he's doing much better. He didn't have any more yucky bouts after he got the medicine.

My Embarrassment

Sitka posted pictures on her blog of the time her mom dressed her up in a sweater. She said it was really embarrassing. I can totally sympathize with poor Sitka, even if I don't usually feel bad for huskies. You see this one time, my mom was shopping at Old Navy for herself and she found a green striped polo shirt. She liked it, so she went to the checkout and at the checkout they had green striped polo shirts for dogs - in the exact same fabric! She couldn't resist that and they happened to have an extra-small, so you can guess what happened next.
My mom thinks that is such a funny picture. You might not be able to tell, but I am plotting right there in the picture how I am going to attack her ankles for all eternity for making me put that shirt on. After she finally freed me of the clothing, she put the shirt on the floor and I started attacking it. I clawed it and bit it, but for some reason, it still exists. I don't think I've had to put it on again though.
Wilbur
PS. Sometime I'll post the pictures from Halloween where she dressed me up as a pumpkin. Animal cruelty, I tell you!

Things about me

I got tagged on Dogster by Kiya to write seven things about myself. So here goes.

1. I am better at minding than Steve, but I don't know "heel" very well. Other than that, I do my other commands much quicker than Steve does.

2. I'm the alpha of the pets in my house. Well, I don't know about Wilbur. His pack status is hard to determine. His claws and teeth kind of give him a status all his own.

3. I am pretty quiet and I don't bark too much.

4. I love kisses. In fact, if my mom ever tries to kiss my dad, like if they are watching TV and sitting on the couch, then I run over and jump up and try to get in on the kissing action too. It happens pretty much every time.

5. I always have to go potty as soon as the alarm clock goes off. Once I hear the "beep, beep" then I sit by the bed so Mom or Dad will wake up and let me go outside. If they don't wake up fast enough, then I jump on the bed to assist them in waking up.

6. I don't like being Furminated. Steve is good and just stands and lets Mom Furminate him, but not me.

7. People who see me think I am mean. Sometimes kids at the dog park are afraid of me because they think I'm a wolf. Usually once they pet me, they see that I'm nice though.

Well, those are some things about me.

Dog Park and Playground

Yesterday we went to the dog park. It had been a REALLY long time since we've been because it has been raining so much and Mom and Dad thought the dog park would be muddy. The end of this week, it's been hot and sunny though, so they decided that it might be safe for us to go. Here's a picture of me.

You might be wondering what is all over my face and paws. Well that would be mud. Mom and Dad were so wrong about it being safe to go to the dog park and not get dirty and so I decided to make sure they knew it. Kat didn't get nearly as muddy as I did. I'm not sure what's wrong with her.

So after getting all dirty, Mom and Dad made us walk around the park until we dried off and the dirt fell off. We found a playground without any little humans. Kat begged to play on the jungle gym and Mom said sure. Kat really liked the tunnel.
There was also a double slide and I went down it with Dad. Kat had already gone down the slide with Mom, but she was a scardy-dog and sat on Mom's lap. Not me. I told Dad that he had to go down on his side by himself and I was going down my side by myself like the tough dog that I am.

Do any of you pups get to play on jungle gyms?

Our Collars - Updated

Last week I wrote about our collars. Then I wrote about how I broke mine on the farm last weekend. Here's a picture of my broken collar. You can see that plastic snap-on collars are no match for my sleek, 37 pounds of pure muscle.

So Mom and Dad decided that we needed something tougher. They don't want to have any huskies on the run! Today we went shopping and I picked out the prettiest collar I could find. It is so beautiful, don't you think?
I like the little bones on it and it is pink, my trademark color. (Sometimes humans think I am a boy, so I have to wear pink.) Here is a close up picture in case you can't see the bones. It also has a bone charm that hangs down from the loop where my tags go.
And here's me modeling it.
Oh, and I picked one out for Steve. It's the same, but blue. And bigger because Steve is bigger. Steve is a really good model, so you can see his collar really well in this picture. Don't you think Steve should be in movies or commercials? He is so good at working the camera.
Well, I am off to jingle around the house with all my tags and the bone charm on my collar. Wilbur is very jealous because my collar is nicer and more jingle-y than his. I guess I should have looked to see if they had matching ones for cats. Maybe I will do that on my next shopping trip.
