I'm a wild girl!

Check out my new tattoo. See it? There on my leg? I'm such a wild and crazy girl.Dad said, "Kat, if you wanted a tattoo, you could have just asked instead of chewing up an ink pen." Mom said, "Kat, you could have at least waited until you were 18 to get a tattoo." Wild and crazy girls like me don't ask for permission. We just do what we want, including chewing up ink pens to give ourselves tattoos.

My babies

Several of you have commented about the huskies lying on the floor in the video of me playing with the yellow ball. Well, those are my babies. Right after we came to live here, Mom went to Target and, of course, she went down the dog aisle. She saw those stuffed huskies and they were on clearance. (Why would two such beautiful stuffed huskies be on clearance? I have no idea.) So she decided to buy one for each of us. The huskies sleep in our crates with us so we have a pillow or something to cuddle with. Every morning, I go into my crate and get my husky out and take it to the living room. Then I go into Steve's crate and get his husky and take it to the living room too. (Steve doesn't take as good of care of his husky.) I like for the huskies to be in the same room as me and I understand that they don't want to spend their days in the crates. I don't really play with the huskies, but I just relocate them to different places in the house throughout the day. Maybe it's my mothering instinct, but I just want them to feel like part of the pack.

My ball, my friend

Remember when my mom returned from Georgia and brought me a new ball? Well, that ball has quickly become my favorite toy. Sometimes I want to play with it more than I want to play with Steve. I like to play a game where I dig in my bed with my ball on it. My parents don't really understand the rules of this game, but they make perfect sense to me and it's really fun.

We love biking!

On Sunday, I overheard Mom say something to Dad about taking us on a bike ride. I thought this sounded like a great idea, so I decided to put my two cents into the conversation.

Here we are getting ready to leave the house. We get really excited when the harnesses come out, so Mom was lucky to get us to sit still long enough for this picture!
Mom was going to video us biking with Dad, but she crashed her bike before we got to the part of the neighborhood where she was going to video. Silly Mom. She didn't even have one of us attached to her bike to blame her crash on us. She's just clumsy. Anyway, for that bike ride, Mom had to go back home early due to her crash, but she said that she would get a video of us another time, so stay tuned!!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! The Easter Husky came to visit us this morning. From what we have heard, the Easter Husky is way better than the Easter Bunny because instead of bringing us eggs, the Easter Husky brought us bones. Don't they look yummy?I ate one of the ones that says "Easter" since it's Easter. But Steve wanted the one that said "Bunny" because ever since Stormy posted a picture of a bunny, he's had bunnies on the brain. Steve is convinced that the Easter Husky understands how he would want to eat a bunny. So anywoo, Happy Easter to all my friends and I've got to go play!

Here are pictures of us eating our bones.

My sister the dog park bully

Kat may call me a suck up, but that's not nearly as bad as being a dog park bully like she is. It was really embarrassing. Yesterday, Mom took us to the park. When we first got there, there was only one other dog. (It was in the 40's and humans in Texas are weak so I guess they didn't want to take their dogs outside in the weather.) The other dog's name was Maggie and we played with her and had fun. Then other dogs got there so we played with everyone. After over an hour of playing with Maggie and the other dogs, Kat was wrestling me. She was winning too and that was making me annoyed. Anyway, Maggie came over and wanted to wrestle too, but Kat just snapped at her to get away. I guess Maggie didn't understand that Kat, while looking all cute on the outside, is really a big, bossy meanie. So Maggie tried again to wrestle and at that point, Kat left me and just went at it with Maggie. They were really fighting. Mom was talking to Maggie's mom, so they were right there to break it up, but Mom had never seen Kat so mean. Kat got put on her leash to calm down, but every time a dog even looked at her, she growled and got fluffy at them. So Mom said we had to go home so Kat could calm down. I was ticked off and not ready to leave and tried to refuse to get in the car, but Mom can still lift me, so I had to get in the car anyway.

Mom talked to Dad about what happened and Dad asked if Kat had a toy or something, but Mom said that she was just playing with me. Well, Dad said that Kat must have thought I was her toy and she was getting possessive of me with Maggie. (I don't appreciate being referred to as Kat's toy.) Anyway, Kat was all cranky the rest of the night. She should have been apologizing to me for making me leave the park, but she was just being mean. She needs to apologize to Maggie too because Maggie got in trouble as well. I hope she doesn't do that again at the park because I don't want to have to go home early all the time. And I don't want to arrive at the park only to see a sign that looks like this.

My brother the suck up

It's a commonly known fact around our house that Steve is a suck up. He always poses for pictures, sits really fast when he's going to get a treat, and does really goofy things that make Mom and Dad laugh. Well, Tuesday was the first day that he's done some sucking up that actually turned out good for me too.

Tuesday morning, we were in the living room hanging out with Mom before she and Dad left for work. Steve was digging through the toy box for something. Pretty soon, he lifted his head out of the toy box with the Frisbee with the doggie day camp logo in his mouth. It was like he was begging to go to day camp. I mean, look at his face! He's really good because he kept that look on his face while Mom went to get the camera. So Mom said, "Sure Stevie, you and Kat can go to day camp today." (So Steve's sucking up turned out great for me because I got to play with other dogs instead of just Steve.) Then in all of his excitement, he started laughing and of course let Mom take his picture. So at this point, Steve was just living it up like he's the favorite dog. So I decided that I better step up and do something cute. I generally prefer to just be cute because I am cute instead of trying to be cute like Steve does. It just comes naturally for me, but apparently Steve has to resort to using a Frisbee and sucking up. Anyway, I did my best to stick out my tongue and smile and look pretty for a picture. I'd say "Mission Accomplished", don't you agree?

Dish Dog

The other day, Mom was working in the kitchen and I thought, "I should probably help. I'm a working dog after all!" So when she started unloading the dishwasher, I stepped in to make sure she was doing it right. I'm sure she appreciated my effort and it helped her get done faster!

Food Shortage

Hi puppies! It's Steve again and I want to write about a scare we had here this weekend. Sunday morning when Mom was getting our breakfast, here's what we saw.

Did you see what was wrong in that picture? That's right, our food storage container was almost empty! We could see the bottom! Even Wilbur was worried and it wasn't even his food.
Well, after breakfast, Dad disappeared for a while and when he returned, he had a giant bag of Canidae on his shoulder. That made me happy, but I still wasn't sure it was going to be enough. Once he had dumped it into the storage container, I inspected again. It wasn't quite full, but I decided it was good enough for now. Whew, crisis averted. That was hard work! (Dad also brought home some Felidae for Wilbur, and I was glad since Wilbur had shown so much concern for us.)

Steve

Note: Some of you might be wondering how many scoops it takes to feed two huskies. Well, the answer is that if your parents are both engineers, they like to be exact, so they measure out our food precisely with those red scoops. I guess they don't want us to get too much food, but I'm sure I could eat it!

Wilbur is 2

In all of the excitement from Mom's return, we forgot to write that yesterday was Wilbur's birthday. He is two now. Mom, the aspiring comedian, said that she doesn't know how the "terrible twos" will be when the "ornery ones" were bad enough. (I know, we don't think it's that funny either.)

Anywoo, to celebrate Wilbur's birthday, we had a birthday party for the family. Mom made cupcakes that are supposed to look like Wilbur. I'm not so sure that they actually do look like Wilbur, but whatever, Mom liked them. Unfortunately she did not let me or Kat try one.

Also Mom made homemade ice cream. Luckily she did let Kat and I have some of that!Wilbur got his own birthday cake. It was a tender beef feast from Fancy Feast (luckily NOT on the recall list). He seemed to really enjoy it. I wanted to try some, but Wilbur was being such a hog. All in all, I'd say Wilbur had a good birthday. We gave him a container of Aquari-Yums. He likes those. The only bad part was that Mom made all of us put on these silly hats to take a picture. She's a little strange sometimes.

Mom's Back!

Mom came home from Atlanta yesterday. She was supposed to get back in the morning, but her flight got messed up, so it was almost 5 PM by the time she got back. Steve and I were going crazy missing her all day! Luckily, Dad surprised us by taking us with him when he went to the airport to get her. We didn’t even know where we were going, but the car stopped and there was Mom, standing there waiting for us! We were really excited. When she got in the car, we tried to climb over the seat and get in her lap! She brought us toys too! She brought me a yellow ball with a daisy on it that she said is cute like me. She brought Steve a monkey with long arms and legs and makes screeching noises. She says it’s silly like Steve. We got to play with them in the car. I went a little crazy with my ball as you can see in this video.

Anyway, before we took Mom home, we swung by the dog park. It was a different dog park than we usually go to, but we wanted to check it out. It was nice, but we sorta got in trouble there. You see, there was a bucket full of water and before Mom and Dad knew what was happening, we had put our whole faces and front parts of our bodies in the bucket. Then we ended up tipping it over and spilling all of the water out and getting mud all over ourselves. So they wouldn’t let us play in the water anymore because we had to dry out to get back in the car to go home. Mom says that she will buy us a swimming pool for the summer, so we are excited!! I will be sure to video that for everyone when it happens.

I like shoes

This is really hard for me to admit, but I like shoes. One pair of Mom's shoes in particular. I know, I know, no self respecting male should like shoes so much, but I can't help it. They have these little beads on them and I just love to chew on them. I've already chewed off one bead, but I just want to chew off more of them. Mom tries to be really clever and hide her shoes from me by putting them under the coffee table. This used to work, but last night I found a way to get them. It was so genius that Dad (I guess I'll start calling him that since they got married, even though he wasn't around when I was adopted) took a picture of me to send to Mom in Georgia. The only problem with my plan is that I don't have a lot of room for movement and chewing under the coffee table. And the fact that after Dad caught me under the coffee table he put the shoes away in the closet where I can't get to them. Until next time, shoes...

Fighting

Hi, Kat here. I sneaked onto Dad's computer. Mom is still gone and I don't know if that's got Steve and me agitated or what, but last night, we had a major fight. I mean MAJOR. We've never fought like that before. It's just that I'm sick and tired of Steve trying to take everything I have and I let him have it. Of course, he let me have it right back and after Dad stopped the fight, I was limping. Steve doesn't give up though, and as you can see in the latest video on our video page, he just kept yelling at me to give him my toys. I'm good at ignoring him though. Dad was really worried about our viscous fighting. I heard him talking to Mom about it on the phone. Maybe we just haven't worked out our pack hierarchy or something. Anyway, we're okay now. We wrestled and stuff this morning before we went to day camp. I just hope he doesn't try any of his antics tonight to steal my stuff.

Kat

PS. I want to give a bark out to my Texas grandma. I know she reads our blog and she sent us a package in the mail the other day with toys in it. How great are Grandmas? If they sent packages with toys and treats, I think I need like 100 million grandmas. Anyway, thanks so much!!!

Steve's Parts

I saved the best for last so I’m going to post my parts today, in our last installment of "parts".

I’ve got my ears. They still are kind of like rabbit ears, but I’m starting to grow into them. Then there’re my brown eyes. Kat said she has blue eyes like our human dad, well I have brown eyes like our human mom. We take after our parents that way.Next up is my nose and a little bit of my tongue. I have a little bit of dirt on my nose in this picture, even though I’m typically not the one digging holes. I leave that for Kat. Sometimes I have scratches on my nose for tormenting Wilbur. I guess I had been being good when this picture was taken. Here’s my paw. It’s not as speckled as Kat’s.Finally my fluffy tail that Kat wrote about yesterday. Mom says it’s good for sweeping the floor when I’m sitting in anticipation of getting a treat.Steve

Kat's Parts

Well, Wilbur just kind of hogged the computer yesterday. I can’t believe he posted his parts before me! Cats. You can’t live with them but you can live without them. (Not if they are spelled with a “k” like me though.) Anywoo, luckily Mom took pictures of us before she left so we could post our parts while she's gone.

Now for my parts. First up, my ear. It’s really furry and Mom thinks furry ears are cute.Next is my eye. It’s nice and blue. That was one of the first things Mom and Dad noticed about me. My pretty blue eyes, just like my dad. (My human dad, that is!)Here’s my nose. Sometimes it is covered with dirt from digging, but in this picture it’s clean.Next we have my polka-dotted paw. It’s pink and black and cute all over. Finally, we have a picture of my rear end. That’s Steve on the left. He’s so much fluffier than I am. I mean, look how fluffy his tail is! Oh wait, this entry is about MY parts. So just ignore Steve. Kat

Wilbur's Parts

With all of the puppies doing “their parts” entries in the blogging circle (like the Army of Four, Turbo, Holly, Frodo, Sitka, and others) , I decided that I shouldn’t be left out. Sure, I’m not a puppy. But I’m a part of this blog, fair and square. (Just read the title.) So without further ado, here are my parts.

Here’s my tail. You will notice that it is striped like a tiger, displaying my true heritage. Domestic short-hair, I think not. I’m an undomestic tiger. Here’s my ear. I don’t want to hear any comments about being an old man with ear hair. This is my nose. It’s pretty cute, if I do say so myself. One of my front paws is shown in this next picture. Notice, I was nice and didn’t show off my razor sharp tiger claws. Every once in a while, I’m nice like that. It's kinda blurry because I didn't want to sit still. Finally, I saved the best for last, here is my eye. Look how menacing and calculating it is. Mom says I have snake eyes. I happen to know that she is terrified of snakes, so that must mean that she lives in fear of me as well. Just like I like it. That way she does whatever I want. Wilbur

Bye, Bye Mommy

Mommy has to go to Georgia today for her work. She said she couldn't take us, so that's no good. Wilbur tried to sneak out of the house with Mom, but she found him.

On the bright side, Dad said we would get to go to the dog park a lot while she is gone because it is easier for him to tire us out there. Anyway, I don't know how much we will be able to write while Mom is gone. Dad doesn't really like to let us use his computer. (Something about the time Wilbur made Mom's computer screen be upside down.) We will try to sneak some blogging time in though!

St. Patrick's Day and Training Woes

Did everypuppy have a good St. Patrick's Day yesterday? Mommy put green bows on our collars so we wouldn't get pinched yesterday.

Yesterday we went to training practice like we do almost every weekend. We had a different trainer because our usual one wasn't there. Anyway, the trainer said that we were doing really great on our training "for huskies". Apparently he is wise to the husky ways and knows that we don't like to mind. Guess what else he told my parents? He told them that when they tell us to sit and we do, but we sit on their feet, it's our way of saying, "Fine, I will sit, but I'm still going to dominate you." He told them not to let us sit or lay down on their feet anymore when they were giving us a command because they are supposed to dominate us. This is a warning to all of you blogging dogs. DO NOT let your parents go to dog training. They might learn secrets about doggie behavior that we don't want them to know. Don't let yourself become like we are where we have to mind and be good.

Check me out, I'm tough

Yesterday I went to the vet without Kat. I had to stay there all day and when I came home, I had a bandage on my front leg. (I think I was also missing some parts down yonder, but that hasn't concerned me much.) Check out how tough I am with my bandage.

I mean, look at me. I'm just lying on my bed like nothing has happened. Kat said, "Oh Stevie! What happened to you today???" She was really worried. But me, I was all like, "What do you mean, sister-dog? I don't feel anything. I'm a tough husky. I feel so good that I could go out and pull a sled 100 miles through the snow." However, Mom and Dad kind of put a damper on my sled pulling plans because they won't let me jump or run around or do anything to show how tough I am with my bandage and stitches. Parents ruin everything.

Finally, My Movie for Otto

Finally I got my movie posted, and it's in my blog! I'm so cool.

Steve

Technical Difficulty

Sorry, pups. I'm having trouble posting my video for Otto. I'll try to get it fixed and let you know when I'm finished.

Steve

My Tribute to Otto

Hey doggies. Steve here. I just got my nails trimmed, so I am lightning fast at typing today!

I have two cousins who live in California. Their names are Ed and Otto. They aren't huskies, but we're cousins because their parents are my mom's cousins. I haven't met them, but they sound like some totally cool dogs, and if anypup knows cool, it's me. First off, they can eat off of a fork. How refined! Ed is the big brother and he learned table manners first and then when Otto joined the pack, he taught him to eat politely off of a fork too. Ed and Otto also have to share a house with cats (even one named Wilbur, just like I do). I bet Ed and Otto have lots of other tricks as well, but what really made my ears perk up is when I heard that their parents said that Otto is really good at growling. Apparently, when someone walks by a window in his house he says, "Grrrr". When he's riding in the car and someone drives by he says, "Grrrr". Basically he must say "Grrrr" a lot. I think Otto and I must be kindred spirits because I also like to be a very vocal pup. I don't say "Grrrr" to people walking by the house, but when my mom or dad wants to pet me, I say "Grrrr" while they are rubbing my tummy.

So in honor of Otto, I've posted a new video on our video page. (My mom is in this video a lot because I only make noises when she's cuddling me, so I apologize for the non-canine representation in the movie.)

Steve

PS. Sorry, I don't have any pictures of Ed and Otto. I'll have to put that on my To-Do-Wooo list.

Happy Birthday to Us!

Today is Steve and my 5 month birthday! We are really getting old, don't you think? To celebrate our birthday, Mom and Dad promised us a bike ride tonight! Hurray!

Steve's Movie Review

I'm sure all of you puppies are familiar with that box that your moms and dads are so interested in. You know, the one with the pictures and the sounds that come out of it. Well, the other day, Mom and Dad were watching the picture box and they did their usual thing where they try to bribe Kat and me to be good for a while with Busy Bones. I decided to do a little research into what is so great about the picture box, so I ate my Busy Bone extra fast and watched the box too. Here is what I discovered. (That's me watching the box.)

They were watching a movie called "Little Miss Sunshine". Now, they think that movie is so funny, but I'm not sure I agree. First off, there are no dogs in it. Not a one that I saw. (Unless it happened when I was eating my Busy Bone.) Then, most of the movie takes place in a car, but no one is sticking their head out the window and letting their tongues flap in the breeze. What is wrong with these people? The only reason I don't stick my head out the window all the time I'm in the car is that my mom and dad won't let me. That is probably what happened in the movie. The people in the front of the car did seem kind of cranky, so they probably didn't want to roll the windows down. Next, there is a part in the movie where their car breaks down. Guess what they decide to do? PUSH the car. Again, what's wrong with these people? Any husky knows that if you want to get somewhere, you have to PULL. This is where the lack of dogs in the movie really starts to mess up the plot line. If they had just had some huskies, they could have harnessed them to the front of the car and they would have not had any problems. Finally, in the movie, the dad has 9-step plan for success. It involves things like work and positive thinking. I think that sounds like 8 steps too many. In my experience, I have found that I only need one step to success - Be Cute. It works like a charm. All in all, I'd give this movie 4 paws out of 4. Despite the movie lacking factors that are important to the canine viewer, the humans seemed to really enjoy it and since they were distracted by the movie, I could get into trouble without being noticed. I recommend all pups try this movie on their humans.

Puppy Pictures!

It's a theme going around the blogging circuit that everypuppy is posting their puppy pictures. Now, even though I am still a puppy, I absolutely cannot stand to be left out. (Just ask Kat when she's getting some attention from Mom or Dad.) So I'm going to post some never-before-seen-very-early-in-life pictures of me. (I'll also throw in some of Kat just because I feel like being nice today.)

This is the earliest known picture of us. Look really closely. We are still in our huskymama's tummy! This picture was from about 2 weeks before we decided her tummy was getting really full with 7 puppies, so we better get out of there. Our huskymama's name is Husker. You can see that I look a lot like her!
This next picture was taken when we were 11 days old. It was my favorite time of the day - eating time! I'm not sure which one is Kat and which one is me. You can be sure that I'm NOT the one by her tail because I'm smart enough to go where the food is.
Here's a picture of me when I was 12 days old. Our husky mom's mom is really good at taking puppy pictures and she likes to make good backgrounds for our cuteness. This was around Halloween if you can't tell. Back in these days I was called Jonah. It's before Mom and Dad found me and named me Steve.
Just to be fair, here's Kat at 12 days old too. She was named Gabby during this time. Mom and Dad almost left her with that name because Mom liked it, but then decided that Kat would be better.
Next here I am at 3 weeks old. I was starting to really develop my handsomeness at this point. I might look a little mischievous here too. This is also one of the first pictures that Mom and Dad saw of me on Puppyfind.
And here's Kat at 3 weeks old. This is her Playboy Bunny pose.
Finally here are pictures of us at 3 1/2 weeks. Our huskymama's mom had been asked for more pictures of us from a potential buyer. Thank goodness that buyer didn't pick us because then we wouldn't have gotten to go live with our Mom and Dad!
Here's Kat. Even I have to admit that her little paws are cute.

So those are some of our puppy pictures. I hope you liked them. (Thanks to our huskymama's mom (Northern Light Huskies) for her good photography skills and for giving us all of our baby pictures!)

Happy Monday!

Hey puppies! I hope everyone had a good weekend. We sure did. We went to the park a few times, so that was good. On Friday, there was another husky there and she really liked us. Her mom said that she is usually protective of her dad and mom, but the other husky let me sit on her mom's feet and she didn't do anything. I bet she knew that I was a fellow husky so it was all good.

Another good thing about this weekend-- no bath! Usually Steve and I get a bath on Friday night. But since it was the beginning of the month and we had been de-crittered, we got a free pass! We always get those yummy things to eat to prevent creepy-crawlies in our insides at the beginning of the month and that other stuff that Mom and Dad hold us down and part our fur to squirt on us to prevent critters on our outsides. So because they had just put that stuff on our skin, we didn't get a bath. I don't like being held down so they can put that stuff on the back of my neck, but if it gets me out of a bath, maybe it isn't so bad. To celebrate, I dug a hole, just to see if they would go back on their "No Bath" policy for this weekend. They didn't. I just got a wet rag to my feet which is not nearly as bad as a bath.

We are going to training tonight and we have been practicing. Last time the trainer threw treats in front of us and expected us not to try to get them. I did pretty good, but it was VERY hard for Steve. I wonder what kind of tricks the trainer has up his sleeve for us this time. At least I know now that after the lesson we get to eat all of the treats that had been tempting us during the lesson!

New Toy!

Thanks to our friend Althea, we now have new toys. Mom bought them when she picked us up from camp today. We got a Good Cuz and a Bad Cuz, 'cause we're both depending on what part of the day it is! We really like these toys. They are squeaky and bouncy and chewy and tons of fun. Kat likes to put it in the water bowl and then chase it around in the water. Thanks Althea!

Steve

PS. Here are some pictures of us enjoying the new toys. Plus we posted a new video of us playing with them.
