I'm your witness. The wind blew dirt onto your face, that's all!

Of course you weren't, my love. One of those squirrels was kicking up the mud.

Poor Kat,
We recognize the dirt splatter pattern on your face as having originated from that rare meteorogical phenomena, the Puget Basin Dust Devil. These pesky little mini-tornado are unique to the Puget Sound region, especially the eastern side between the sound and the Cascade Mountains. They are known for lifting loose surface dirt from the ground around evergreen trees and splattering it over the face of inocuous regional wildlife such as deer, elk, dogs, etc. If there are any evergreen trees within 5 miles of your house and you are located between Puget Sound and the Cascades you are in jeopardy from the dreaded Puget Basin Dust Devil. The most prominent animal to be affect is the bird once known as the Pacific Northwest Solid Owl. The affects have been so devastating on this protected species that it is now known as the Pacific Northwest Spotted Owl. These spotted owls are prevalent in the Pacific Northwest and are frequently spotted there. Our dad used to live there and he told us all about it. It's the truth; sailors never lie, just ask any girl.

Just an innocent bystander that was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

That isn't from digging. It is from a great wind storm that blew in from the Pacific picking up dirt paticles as it went. It isn't your fault that your lifted your head to the wind and it left you a gift.

Yeowzers. How did that happen? Did a squirrel fling mud at you?

You were not digging. That dirt that looks to be on your snooter is actually on the glass door.

My mum says she cannot believe that you would ever do anything like digging in the yard - she has met you in dogson and swears you are much better behaved than that. I believe her.
