Working Dogs

Hi! Steve again. Mom told us we are going camping this weekend. I have no idea what camping is, but I am always up for new adventures, so I was excited. Then she came up with these things called backpacks. I've seen Mom and Dad wear backpacks when we went snowshoeing and they carried our treats and poop inside them, so I have no problem with a backpack-- until she tried to put it on me! Look at me. It was torture.Even Kat hated it.Apparently we are going to go hiking over the camping trip too and for some reason, Mom and Dad want us to carry our own poop. It should really be a joy for them to pick up our poop, bag it, and carry it for miles in their backpacks, but apparently they don't get that.

Then Dad tried to bribe us into liking our backpacks by giving us some treats. I'll admit that worked pretty well.
Then Kat and I ran around for a while outside in our backpacks and when we came back inside, Mom took them off. She said something about how that was enough for today and we'd have to wear them again tomorrow. We shall see about that!

Steve

PS. We are going to a husky picnic on Saturday so that's why we are going camping. WOO!

I don't know about those backpacks. I hope camping is fun though

What kind of vacation is that? We think your parents should carry your poop. You could sit and refuse to move in those things at the next practice session. What about Wilbur? What does he have to carry?

Hello my fellow back-packers,

Yes - My Mom did that to me too because she said I was dragging her through the woods and she was tired of it. The good news was she did put lots of great treats and water in the back-pack so we got to stop and eat alot.
Come and visit my blog soon, My Mom said she would add pictures of me carrying the pack.

Becareful! First they will want you to carry your own poo, then you will have to start carrying things they don't want to carry. Put your feet down and tell them what is acceptable to go in those backpacks.

I was going to say that Kat does not look happy but that is the understatement of the year.

But at least you get to on a picnic and camping. You two are such lucky pups.

Hello my New Buddies

I would love to link to your blog and of course you can link to ours! My Mom got my backpack at the website called www.ruffwear.com - the saddle bags come off and there are bladders on both sides for water so you don't have the carry bottles and it does keep me cool - Hiking is fun but the poop bags aren't! But sometimes I just can't help it! Happy trails to you!

What fun you guys are having. We think you should give lessons on enjoying life each day! We can't wait to live vicariously. Enjoy the husky round up. Those back packs don't look too bad.

Ooh, shiny stuff on the sides!

The Human Assistant has a book that shows Army humans making dogs pull stuff in the winter.

In the summer they made them carry stuff.

Books give humans wrong ideas. That's one reason I chew books!

I think camping is like the Iditarod where you get to go places and sleep outside. Hope you have fun!

We LOVE to camp, but we haven't tried the dog backpacks yet. We can't wait to hear what humans and canines have to say about the experience.

Oh... oh, you guys look so totally not happy with the backpacks. Mom was going to get one for us to wear. Dad asked what she'd put in it and she said, "Poop bags, water, cell phone, treats, stuff like that." Dad said, "Well you already CARRY all that!" Mom said he didn't quite get it. WE said, "right on, Dad" and don't have to carry our own gear. Ha roooo!

Working dogs? How could she do this to you'all? And Kat does not look happy at all about this. And why should you have to carry your poop? No fair.
Have a fun weekend and we want to see pictures of this camping thing.

Well the pic nic looks pawsome, but the backpacks don't! Why is it humans don't seem to get that animals poo outside & leave it where it drops. Personally I would refuse to carry poo anywhere. They want it, they bagged it, they carry it. Now treats are another matter all together....

Wooos and good luck!
