Death in the family

Today is a tragic day at our house. Someone has been killed and we had to have a funeral. I can barely hold back my tears as I write this. Mr. Orange Bad Cuz is dead. Dad found him with a giant hole in his side about the size of a nickel. I don't know how it happened. I think he must have been shot in the night. Mr. Orange Bad Cuz was our favorite cuz of all. His squeaker had stopped working, but that made him all the more fun to play with. He made a rattling noise instead of squeaking and we couldn't get enough. Mr. Orange Bad Cuz also enjoyed being thrown around the house so we could chase him. Kat loved playing with him so much that she even fetched with him. We often had fights over who would get to enjoy chasing and chewing on him. But now our dear friend is gone.

Kat and I wanted to keep Mr. Orange Bad Cuz even with the gaping hole in his side. Mom said that we might inadvertently eat parts of him, so now that he is dead, we should let his body rest in peace. So we all gathered around the kitchen trash can and woo-ed about how much we loved him and will miss him.
I asked Mom if we could get another Mr. Orange Bad Cuz, even though I know that the one who just died is not replaceable. Mom told me that we still have three other cuzes, so she thinks we should be able to get by. I don't know. It's a tragic loss for Kat and me.

Rest in peace Mr. Orange Bad Cuz,

Steve

High Flying Huskies

This morning we went for our first airplane ride. Mom sewed us some white scarves so we would look like ace pilots. Here's our picture with Mom by the airplane. It was pancake breakfast day at the airport, so there were a lot of people there. We were really excited to say hi to everyone. We walked around for a little bit and then it was time to go fly.

I really liked it when we were on the ground and the propeller was turning. I stuck my head out and let my tongue flap in the breeze. We taxiied past all of the people eating pancakes and waved our tongues at them. Ha, ha!Once we got airborne, it was a little noisy. Kat kept looking out the window. She couldn't believe how all of the swimming pools in backyards looked like puddles!
Here's a cute picture of yours truly.
We flew around for about 30 minutes, then we went back to the airport. Mom and Dad didn't want us to get too hot since there isn't air conditioning in the plane. Dad pointed our air vents towards us, but it was still a little hot. After we landed and jumped out of the plane, Mom took us over to the hose by the airport building and let us drink from the hose. That was pretty fun. We tried to look cute and get some pancakes from the people that were still there, but Mom wouldn't let us have any. Everyone was really impressed with us, being flying dogs and all.

Mom says we'll go flying again sometime. I asked her if we could leave the window open in the air, but she said no. I don't know what she's worried about. It's not like I would try to jump out without a parachute! I don't even think I could fit through the window.

Vehicle Tag

MayaMarie tagged us to play Vehicle Tag! We have to come up with which vehicle fits our personalities. We decided to go with airplanes because we're supposed to go on our first airplane ride this weekend if the weather is nice and our pilot (Mom) isn't being lazy. (Stay tuned for pictures!)

For me, Kat, I would be a Mooney. It's sleek and fast, just like me.Steve would be a Cessna 172. It's an easy going airplane, just like Steve is an easy going husky. It's also forgiving for student pilots who are learning how to land, and Steve is pretty forgiving as long as he gets treats.Wilbur would be an Extra 300. It's a small, fast, aerobatic airplane, and Wilbur is definitely small, fast, and acrobatic!

Too much energy!

Mom says we have too much energy this morning. Gee, I wonder why? We didn't get a walk yesterday. Dad was busy and Mom has a giant foot that won't fit in a shoe. Why that is a good excuse for not taking a walk, I do not know. Steve and I walk every day with no shoes. But can Mom do it one day? Nooooo. So that's why we have too much energy this morning.

Kat

Oh, in case you're wondering what happened to Mom's foot, here's the story. Sunday, Dad was mowing the front yard, so Mom was on poop patrol in the back yard before he started mowing in the back. During her patrol, she stepped into a mound of fire ants. She got bit and is having some reaction to it, so her foot has swollen up. She had to wear flip flops to work yesterday because the shoes she tried to wear were hurting her giant foot too much. Mom says she likes Texas, but cannot wait to get away from fire ants. She never had to deal with them until she moved to Texas four years ago. No matter how often Dad puts that ant stuff all over the yard, we still get fire ants. I can kinda sympathize with Mom. I stuck my nose in a fire ant pile as a puppy and if Mom hadn't been there to rescue me, it could have been bad. I had ants all over my face and front paws. But I still wanted to go for walks, so I don't feel that bad for her.

PS. We got an email from Ulee's new family. They were watching the video of Mom and me in the kissing contest and Ulee heard Steve's whining. Ulee started looking all over her new home for Steve! Isn't that cute? Other that missing handsome Steve, Ulee is doing great in California. She loves going to the beach and dog park and is part of a husky group at her dog park. She has also been enrolled in school. So it sounds like she's living the good life!

Thank Woo Holly!!

Saturday when Mom went outside to get the mail, guess what she found? A package for us from Holly! We don't get a lot of mail, so we were really excited to check out our package.Guess what was inside? First there was a very lovely card with Holly's picture on the front. We gave the card a good sniffing and look over. Holly is a very beautiful Malamute!
Inside the package we found a package of beef flavored Healthy Edibles and a book. The book is called "The Taz Adventures: Dogged and Determined". We can't wait to read about Taz the husky's adventures. Maybe Mom will read them to us as bedtime stories.I was very interested in the Healthy Edibles bones.Since we had been out in the heat at the Pow Wow, and also because we behaved really well at the event, Mom let us have the bones right away. They were so yummy.Thank woo so much Holly! You're the best Mal-gal!!

Steve (and Kat too)

Bow Wow Pow Wow

Today we went to the Bow Wow Pow Wow. It was fun, but kind of hot. Mom entered me in the Kissiest Dog Contest. We had to go on stage and judges watched each dog kiss his or her owner. Mom thought I would be great in the contest because I am very kissy. Here's the video so you can see what happened.

Needless to say we didn't win since I did not give her ANY kisses. It was hot and I was grumpy. I wish I had been a little more cooperative though because the dogs who placed in the contest all got enormous bags of treats. That would have been kind of nice.

Kat

PS. Hear all that whining in the video? That's Steve. He hates being apart from me, so he was throwing a fit during the whole time I was waiting in line to go on stage. What can I say, he loves me.

Our new duds

("Duds" means "clothes" if you don't speak Texan or Cowboy. Just so you're not confused by my title. Ha, ha, woo, woo!)

We're going to the Bow Wow Pow Wow tomorrow afternoon. Since we always have to look extra stylish when we go on outings, Mom made us new bandannas. These are really cute. Red fabric with black paw prints and black edges. Mine looks especially good if I do say so myself. My black fur really compliments it. Here we are modeling our new bandannas. You can't see the bandannas that well in this picture, but Dad was outside, so Mom was posing us and taking the picture, which is pretty hard when we are uncooperative.Mom always makes us match. Do you think that's just a little bit too much? I realize we're littermates and all, but we do have our own identities. Sigh...

Utter Embarrassment

I like to dig in my toy box. A pup never can tell what he might find at the bottom of the box. The other day, I was digging in the toy box and my holey ball got stuck on my name tag. Instead of rescuing me, Mom took my picture. Can you just tell how embarrassed I am? Then to make matters worse, Kat was just staring at me. Can no one help me?After the paparazzi - I mean Mom - finished photographing my embarrassment, the holey ball was removed. And I took a nap.

New Dog Park Friend

We went the dog park again last night. We met up with Maddox, a four month old husky. He was so cute! We can't believe we were once that little! Also while we were there, two other huskies came. One looked almost identical to me! She ran around so much that Mom didn't get a good picture of her.

Here's a picture of us playing in the pool. That's Maddox trying to chew on the edge of the pool. Isn't he so cute? This is another picture of Steve and me. We kind of hog the pool when we are there. Here's a video of us playing in the pool. Maddox is trying to get brave enough to get in!

At first, Maddox was pretty shy because it was his first time at the dog park. But soon enough he really wanted to play with Steve and me. Here are a couple of videos of him playing with us and watching us wrestle.

New Dog Park Pictures

We have gone to the dog park the past two evenings. It's been cooler so Mom and Dad haven't been so miserable while watching us play at the park. The dog park should put in some bigger pools for the humans. Kat and I spend most of our time in the pool anyway. Here's a funny picture of me after getting out of the pool.Mom took this picture of us after we were really tired. She says it's her new picture of us together. She has a hard time getting good pictures of us both looking at the camera, but we did pretty good for her here, I think.Happy Weekend,
Steve

Who are you going to believe?

Mom got this cut near her eye today. (You can't see it very well in this picture, but it's the best I could do. I'm a cat, not a photographer.)Her version of events is that this morning, she was lying in bed and I was walking on her. She started petting me and I was purring and then all of the sudden, I snapped and bit her on the face. My version of events is that I was lying innocently next to her on the bed when out of nowhere, a piece of paper came flying into the room and gave her a paper cut. Yeah, that's what happened.

Who are you going to believe? Me, wild jungle cat... I mean totally tame house cat... or my mom, the woman who ruined my life with those furry beasts?

Bye Ulee!

Yesterday Ulee left to go to her fur-ever home. It was a happy/sad event. Mom and Dad took all three of us on a really long walk in the morning so that Ulee would be sleepy for at least some of her car ride yesterday. It's hard to believe that we'll never see her zig-zag walking style again. (She liked to run back and forth across the path that we were walking, smelling things.) On the other hand, she's going to be very happy with her new family.

We packed a suitcase for Ulee. We had Mom write her name on it and then write things like "California Bound" and "California or Bust". Then we picked out dog stickers to put on it too. I wanted a lot of bone stickers and Kat picked out one that said "Fetch!" since Ulee does that sometimes. Here's a picture of her suitcase.
I bet you're wondering what we put in the suitcase. Well, we put a bag of Canidae in it. Then we put a bag of Canidae Snap Biscuits. We also picked out some of our toys that Ulee decided were her favorites like the blue star stuffie. Mom had bought Ulee her very own Kong and Nylabone, so we packed those too. She also took her Lupine collar and leash that we bought her since she was chewing on her original leash and Lupine has a guarantee even if she chews it. We picked out a really stylish collar and leash (the Tropicana pattern) that looked fitting of a future beach girl. Here's Ulee showing it off. Here's a picture of the suitcase contents.Mom doesn't have any pictures of Ulee actually leaving. Her new family was taking lots of pictures so Mom didn't. Mom thought it was really cute because when they got to our house yesterday, Mom opened the door and was holding Ulee's leash and Ulee stood in the doorway looking really happily at her new family and they took a super cute picture of her. Mom thinks Ulee just understood that they were the perfect family for her.

Kat mentioned that Ulee's family brought us some treats. We took a picture of them. They gave us two boxes of Organix dog cookies, one peanut butter and one chicken flavor. We've tried the peanut butter and they are delicious. They also gave us a package of Zuke's Edible Dental Chew Bones. We have sampled those a couple times and they are really good. We know that Ulee's family was reading the blog before they adopted Ulee, so if they are still reading, we want to say a big THANK YOU!!! The treats are awesome! Well, that's our report for today. I hope everyone has a good holiday today! If we get some pictures of Ulee on the beach, we'll share them.

Boo Team, Yea Ulee!

Well, my team didn't win. It's okay though because I'm still happy. We just met Ulee's new family and they are awesome! They loved Ulee and Ulee loved them. She gave them some kisses and enjoyed the tummy rubs they gave her. Steve loved Ulee's new family too because they brought him treats. You all know how he loves treats! (Okay, I love treats too.) Ulee's family has a neighbor who is a dog trainer, so Ulee's going to go to training too. Dad said after only a few lessons she'd be better than us. (We didn't mind our manners with Ulee's new family.) Ulee's family even brought her a bunch of toys to play with in the car during the ride back to California. I know she's going to have a great life. They are only one mile from the ocean! How cool is that?

Anyway, we don't have much else to say, but I know everypup was wondering how Ulee's meeting with her family went!

Kat

Go Team!

In honor of Oklahoma State University's season opening game against the University of Georgia, I want to say...

GO COWBOYS!!!

Watch out Sitka. She's a Georgia Bulldogs fan and one of my best friends, so we'll be friends no matter what the outcome, but it's fun to tease. :-)
