Our new vet

I went to the vet today to be tested for giardia.  Mom took me to a vet that was recommended to her by one of her new coworkers.  Get this.  Her coworker's name is Steve and he has a husky.  My name is Steve and I am a husky.  That is really weird, right?  Anyway, Mom's coworker Steve takes his husky to a vet near our house, so Mom decided to try it out.  She looked at the website and the head vet went to vet school at the University of Missouri.  Since Mom grew up in Missouri, she figured that he was probably a good vet.  But today, when we got to the vet, guess where the vet I saw went to vet school.  Oklahoma State University!  That's where Mom went to college too, so at that point, she knew we were at a great place.  Mom really liked the vet that we talked to and he used to have an Alaskan Malamute, so he was even familiar with northern breeds.

Anyway, I was nice enough to leave the vet with some poop, so they are going to send it to the lab to be tested and we'll find out if I have giardia in a couple days.  The vet said it's very common in this area because there is typically a lot of standing water.

Steve

PS. We got a great present from a special friend in Louisiana, but we're having issues with video uploading tonight, so we will post about that as soon as the video is working.  But we want to say THANK WOO!!

All this vet talk is sort of icky! We hope you and Kat get better soon.

I'll keep my paws crossed that this new vet is as good as he/she sounds on paper. :)

Make sure you run through the water that's standing so that it gets mixed up next time you drink it! We hope your poo is good poo and that you're feeling better.

Oh, I'm sorry. Giardia sucks. I've never had it but my humans once fostered a dog for 3 days (then he went to his long term foster home) that had giardia. Dad said he'd never been up and down the stairs so many times in one night!

Hope you feel better soon Steve!

Hi Kids, we're glad you found a good vet that you like. we've had giardia too - from drinking the "grey" water at Marymoor - so be careful. luckily, you can take some pills, or sometimes this chalky medicine and it goes away.

we go to some vets that are far away from home, they are near Marymoor, but our mom likes them a lot. we used to live nearer to them, but then we moved farther away. mom won't change vets 'cuz she likes them so much and we even like them too, which is the most important thing. you gotta like your vet, right!?!

We are glad you like your new vet. Comet ate
giardia
once, but I don't think it was the same thing you have. He didn't get to poop for the vet. Hope you feel better soon.

I was wondering if you got your parasite while in the green water of Lake Washington. At least your vet sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

I don't really get why vets always send our poops to Labs to have it tested. I thought they were retrievers, not scientists!
Woo.
I hope the Lab says your poop is OK.

Dave
PS: When people are surprised I'm named "Dave" and ask what Dad's name is, Mom always tells them it's "Spot". Ha woo. Your mom should try that one, Steve!
