New York Style Pretzel Bones

It's been a really long time since I did an episode of Kat's Crazy Kitchen and for that, I fully blame my mom. I gave her a guilt trip this weekend and we worked together to bring you a new episode. Today, we're going to make New York Style Pretzel Bones.

First, gather up your ingredients. Mix up 1.5 cups of oat flour, 1.5 cups of brown rice flour and 0.5 cups of oat bran.
DSCN0097
Add to that 0.5 cups of grated parmesan cheese, 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 egg and 1.25 cups chicken broth. Mix everything up to form a soft dough.
DSCN0098
Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about a quarter of an inch thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut the dough into your desired shape.
DSCN0101
Place the cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. My mom cuts the bones in half, but hopefully your mom isn't stingy and will give you the whole bone. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

Let cool on a wire rack and store in the refrigerator.

These cookies were very easy to make. The dough rolled out nicely. You can also brush the cookies with egg and top with sesame seeds if you want to make them more pretzel-like, but we did not do this step.

As you can see, Steve and I were eager to try the cookies! We both give them two paws up.

Hopefully it won't be as long before I do another Kat's Crazy Kitchen episode. In the meantime, try out the recipe Shiloh and Shelby posted on their blog. It looks really tasty.

These look good and my Mom wrote down the recipe. We might make some 2-morrow. We have tried to get your recipes from your page, and we can find what we want, but it doesn't come up. Is there a trick to it?

Kisses,
Stella

even WORSE! you're sharing a PLATE! WTF? You both better hop a plane to Wild Dingo. I feed lots and lots and lots of treats. well, i sortta make you work for it though. maybe you'd be happier with sharing a plate of half bones... better to not work and be fed than to have to work for your foodables!

Dear Kat -
Before I forget, many thanks to you and Steve for the Valentines you sent all of us! What a really nice thing.
Here's my question about these treats: They sound INCREDIBLE! How do I keep my mom and dad from eating them?
Woo.
Luv,
Dave

Those look so good, Kat, but why cut them in half? We think she really needs to get bigger cookie cutters:)

Did you Mom eat them too because our silly Mom says she would like to try them with sesame seeds herself?

Hey Kat,
That's a GReat recipe. We're gonna try to get dad (mom's too busy studying all the time) to make us a batch. However, we were wondering how you can possibly call the cookies New York Style pretzel bones? Shouldn't they more appropriately be called New York Style Pretzel Half Bones? If your mom is so stingy, why not just get a smaller bone shaped cookie cutter so that the cookies can be smaller whole bones? And we'd like to congratulate you and Steve on the GReat restraint that you showed while sitting next to a plate full of New York Style Retzel Half Bones. We could not have done that. The picture would show at least 8, if not 10, of us sitting (or fighting) next to an empty plate that once held New York Style Pretzel Half Bones; or at our house smaller new York Style Pretzel Bones.

You look so so handsome patiently waiting for your cookies! Your Mom should give you 2 because you are so handsome! The recipe sounds wonderful - we are trying to convince Mom to make these for us!
It's great seeing you again - we are going to make Mom get busy blogging our page every day again!
