Motivating Mom

Sometimes I have to really work hard to motivate Mom to get up and let me outside.  Today she has the day off, but isn't feeling all that great, so she was still in bed this morning at 8AM!  That is just more than I can take.  Plus, she wasn't even sleeping, she was playing with her computer.  An outrage!  So I decided to get her up and make her let me outside.  It's all documented for you here.

First, I give Mom a stern look.  Obviously I'm giving her the chance to get up right at that moment.
Since she didn't listen, I have to make a really cute face and see if that works.
I still didn't have any luck with that, so I had to go in for the kill... constant kisses all over the face.
My kisses technique always works.

Kat,
You must be a graduate of th "J.E.B. School of Canine Wake Up Calls." J.E.B. has perfected the Canine Wake Up call over a period of 8 years. Initial wake up whimpering should begin no later thjan 06:30. If a satisfactory response is not eminent then jumping on the bed next to the subject and leering down at the subject person is appropriate. If a satisfactory response is not achieved at that point, commence rapid and slobbery face washing which can sometimes be confussed with kissing. Remaining in bed past 07:00 without at least throwing, err we mean putting, all canine house occupants outside (wx permitting) is NOT ALLOWED. Breakfast for canines is to served and consumed prior to 08:00 except on VERY,VERY RARE occassions. If both mom and dad are available for wake up harrassment, always harass the dad first as a courtest to the mom. If dad exhibits extreme displeasure at the wake up call, resort to the mom immediately as she usually cannot shout as loud as the dad.
GREAT job Kat. Keep up the good work.

Benson has a great technique - high speed face washing. it works great!

we went to the 'old' willis tucker dog area. we haven't seen the new one yet either, but the old one was quite muddy and there were lots of little dogs there and a ball stealing lab. finally mom got us over to the side where there is grass and not many other dogs.

woofs.

I hope your mum is feeling better. Mine was sick yesterday so I stayed in bed with her all day. I think it helped.

Subtle. We prefer the more direct approach. Become the laptop. Jump up and down until human moves in self defense. And when they get up, steal the warm pillow.

Great suggestions on technique! I think we shall steal some of those suggestions. Our mom is always napping
